‘When I shop, the world gets better, and the world is better, but then it’s not, and I need to do it again.’― Sophie Kinsella
So I needed (really) I nice serving plate and I went to visit my favorite thrift stores. I could not believe my luck when I found this gorgeous pink depression glass plate with matching dipping bowl for only $6.-!!! And not a chip or a scratch on it! I started humming Christmas songs right away.
And than I saw the delightful peacock and that naughty mouse. And two vintage Pyrex bowls with my favorite Butterprint pattern! Aawh, and that little donkey…so perfect to hold my toothbrush! ( The candle holder is just to show the clever design of the peacock, it looks great on a bookshelf now)
And then I stumbled on these 1960 children books and ohoh those retro Dolphins were also singing softly to me….
En toen struikelde ik over deze kinderboeken uit 1960 en ohoh die retro dolfijnen zongen zo zachtjes naar mij….
Right…it was the last time this year, I was in the shops. It is getting too crowded with too many grumpy people for my taste;0) Time for reading.
Goed…dat was de laatste keer dat ik in de winkels was dit jaar. T wordt te vol met teveel chagrijnige mensen naar mijn smaak;0) Tijd om te lezen.
And getting ready for Christmas. Oh, how I love this coziness….
En voorbereiden op Kerst. Oh, zo gezellig….
Love and Liefs, Johanna.
What wonderful finds!! Funny how people get grumpy this time of year…too much pressure? Enjoy your treasures and your peaceful home!
Well, I always wonder why people indeed get so grumpy in this joyful . Maybe they get dragged into all the commercial nonsense they are fed with all the time? Too bad, it is such a wonderful time of the year! But I have feeling your home is peaceful too! hugs from Ohio
I’m glad you found some great stuff at the shop! I do love the mouse. It’s so cute.
I better start decorating my house too for a Christmassy look.
Thank you Mary Sue! I wonder what would be typical for Australian Christmas? Or maybe it is the same ? In the Netherlands 5 of December is St. Nicolas day with gifts and all. And Christmas has two days.
What a great quote 😉
Your posts leave me with a smile on my face, they have a high cuteness factor!
Enjoy a quiet holiday season with your favourite books, lots of love
I wish the same for that kind girl across the pond!
I like you glass bowl. You found a lot of nice things 🙂
Thanks Annie and I was happy with the glass! Usually, I do not find what I am looking for or it takes a long time. That is OK but it was nice to find it right away this time!
Oooo, I just love your finds! I pick up the vintage Pyrex bowls when I find them, too! You got some fabulous items. I would love to go shopping with you! Oh, wait, I’d hate to have to fight you for something! LOL!!!! 🙂
I would always shop with a devoted Pyrex lover!!! Right..we would have to toss a coin in those cases and the winner has to buy lunch ;0)
Oh, you picked up some amazing treasures! Love that pink glassware, it’s so beautiful. And your quote from Sophie Kinsella is perfect, I love her books!
It was a very satisfying hunt! Ohoh, I can see the plate already standing so prettily with goodies on the table;0) Happy you enjoyed the quote!
What a haul! You found some great stuff–when I was working, my secretary had a little mouse like that and stuck phone messages for me on its tail!
That is a great idea!!! It is also amazingly heavy, I thought it was a paperweight. I have put it in the kitchen now, to stick my receipts on. Thanks, Kerry!
I was very tempted to steal the one from my office when I retired–maybe I’ll find one at a thrift shop some day!
Awesome finds! I’m especially envious of the $6 pink depression glass plate and bowl that you found. I threw a pink depression glass plate out when I was getting ready for Thanksgiving. It had been poorly stacked in my cupboard and a piece had broken off of it. Your post motivates me to go to a flea market or thrift store, and look for a replacement.
Thank you, Sheryl, and I hope your hunt will be successful !
