Definition of DIORAMA according to merriam-webster.com:

• a scenic representation in which a partly translucent painting is seen from a distance through an opening
•  a scenic representation in which sculptured figures and lifelike details are displayed usually in miniature so as to blend indistinguishably with a realistic painted background
• a life-size exhibit (as of a wildlife specimen or scene) with realistic natural surroundings and a painted background

You start with collecting a few nice glass jars of different sizes and miniatures of trees, animals, snowflakes or whatever you think is pretty and Christmassy. You will also need white decor sand and nice glittery fake snow. Some people use epsom salt or even sugar, but I find that the sand gives more stability to the miniatures. And you will need some red and green felt , glue, sticky tape, thin wire etc.

Je begint met t verzamelen van wat mooie potjes in verschillende maten en miniaturen van bomen, dieren, sneeuwvlokjes en wat jij maar kerstelijk en mooi vindt. Ook heb je wit decor zand en fijne glitter nep sneeuw nodig. Sommige mensen gebruiken ook wel epsom zout of zelfs suiker maar ik vind dat t zand meer stabiliteit aan de miniaturen geeft. En dan heb je nog rood en groen vilt nodig en lijm, plakband, dun ijzerdraad etc.

First you cut out circles from the felt and glue it on the lid. Put a layer of the sand in the jar and place miniatures in it the way you like it. Using such pliers might be helpful.

Eerst knip je cirkels uit t vilt en plakt die op de deksel. Giet een laagje zand in de pot en plaats de miniaturen zoals jij t mooi vindt. T gebruiken van zo’n tangetje kan handig zijn.

To let items ‘float’ in the jars, simply wire them and stick it on the inside of the lid.

Om dingetjes te laten ‘zweven’, gewoon vastmaken aan dun ijzerdraad en aan de deksel plakken.

Sprinkle some fake snow on your little scene and screw the lid on. A little light behind the diorama makes it even more beautiful.

Strooi wat nepsneeuw over je kleine voorstelling en draai de deksel erop. Een klein lichtje achter je diorama maakt t nog mooier.

Mannikin thought that the felt on the lid looked a little sloppy. I corrected that and went a little overboard in making a few more;0)

Tekenpop vond dat t vilt wat slordig leek. Dat heb ik verbeterd en toen ging ik mezelf wat te buiten in t maken van nog een paar;0)
