How was your weekend?
Hoe was jullie weekend?
What an excellent weekend we had! Despite the fact our oldest son returned to Canada again after such a pleasant visit visit of more than a week. The weather , especially on Saturday, was fine: meals outside on the patio and enjoying those birds! We unpacked some more boxes, hung a few paintings and pictures and admired that with satisfaction. I have an mesmerizing book to read ( the Winter Circus) and my knitting is making progress despite the warm weather…
But best of all we had a good walk in ‘our’ new park, Sharon Woods, only 10 minutes away from our house. These photo’s are made in the Gorge Trail, a short trail but easy to combine with the other trails. It is a little gem, with waterfalls and beautiful plants and trees.
It is also informed us that Sharon Woods was an ocean 140 million years ago and then slowly land and forest was formed, nice and warm like the jungle. Until 1.8 million years ago the ice age started and giant glaciers changed all again. Making way for giant herds of Mammoths and other big animals like beavers of 300 pounds. I like that idea of big icy plains of snow and roaming Mammoths, always had a fondness for those furry giants. Wonder if you could knit from their wool?
Than we got startled by some serious scuffling in the bushes…what, still a mammoth hanging around?? But no, it was only a velociraptor who had lost its way. If you see a sad child looking for its raptor: its waiting at the first bridge in the Gorge Trail at Sharon Woods.
Love and Liefs, Johanna.
Hi Johanna,
I’m glad you had a nice weekend. Here, Saturday was a tad “off” as Mary left for a visit with her cousin in Denver. So, understandably, I was feeling somewhat lonely. Yesterday was better, I did some shopping in San Antonio. On both days, btw, the heat was really oppressive. Today it has cooled off some, and maybed we’ll even get some rain some day this week. Keep your fingers crossed.
Take care, and enjoy the week,
Pit
Poor Pit! My husband will agree: it is cruel that wives leave for visits to their far away sisters;0) (I have two of those myself, sisters that is, not husbands) Hope your suffering will be over soon with your Mary back home again. And I agree that rain should fall in Texas, I will send some your way. We had more than our share last week!
Wonderful post. I love seeing your new home!
Thank you Susan…I am chuffed to bits about myself, in case you wonder;0)
Your bear is cute. Did you make it?
Thank you for liking my Bear Anne Marie. I did not make her myself, but she is my life long travel companion:
If you click on the link, you can seeall about her.
I did knit the dress though!
Hi Johanna,
Mary will be back on Friday. You can send as much rain our way as you want. Even if we did have some showers today we desperately need more.
Take care, and have a good one,
Pit
Wow! I love your neighborhood! What a great park to spend time in. And your house is coming together so nicely.
That park is definitely a bonus! And thank you so much for your lovely compliment,Linda.
It sounds like you are getting settled in to your new home and the surrounding neighborhood. The park looks awesome.
Thank you, Sheryl, we do feel incredibly at home here!
That trail looks as perfect as a movie set! How wonderful!
I love the little raptor ~ no wonder he doesn’t want to leave such a beautiful place, I wouldn’t either! 🙂

Andrea, I agree: you could expect the Knights of Rohan or creatures from Narnia any minute when wlaking there;0)
haha! They would love it there: it’s a perfect setting for that! 🙂
